Although research to date has improved the outlook for children with cancer, there is still so much to do. Today’s treatments are damaging, cause lasting side effects in later life and, in some cancers, are ineffective altogether.
While much of our research is conducted in the Northwest of England, our beneficiaries are children with cancer all over the world. Your donation will help us get more research projects off the ground, which could lead to critical breakthroughs in our global understanding of childhood cancer and a step change in the way of children with cancer are diagnosed and treated.
Our mission is for the projects we fund to secure longer-term funding from other charities and organisations. It is always our hope that the projects we kickstart will eventually get to clinical trial stage and ultimately improve treatments for children with cancer.
We want the money we receive from donors and supporters to go straight into research and not into running the charity. To achieve this, we keep our overheads to an absolute minimum with only one part time member of staff and donated office space. We have a dedicated and experienced Board of Trustees who govern and oversee the work of the charity. They work alongside our expert Scientific Advisory Board who monitor and review the research we fund. All of them are volunteers.
Together, we can give all children with cancer a brighter future. Become a Friend of Rosie and help us.
