Comment from Professor Vaskar Saha
Chairman of the Medical and Scientific Committee
“Many organisations offer funding opportunities for cancer research projects to include salary costs, running costs and specific pieces of equipment. Successful applications require demonstration of preliminary work that shows the ability to carry out the research. Small or newly established labs or new projects thus need a helping hand to get off the ground.
“Pump-priming grants offer support to fledgling projects with novel or innovative research targets to be carried out within an established research environment. Friends of Rosie welcomes applications for funding of pilot studies designed to generate preliminary data which would contribute to securing more substantive funding from elsewhere. In addition, applications for pieces of equipment to support Friends of Rosie funded/ approved research projects are considered.”
